COURSE OF THE WEEK π
In preparation for the International Festival Of Creativity, here's one of our FREE courses to guide you through: 70 Years Of Cannes Lions!
This course is a delightful way to take a tour of advertising best ideas over the past 70 years. From the mad men days of Bill Bernbach and David Ogilvy, right up last year's establishment of the world's first digital nation, his course covers the glorious history of creativity in communications.
Here's what one of our learner's had to say about it:
"Short but sweet. So many great ads in there. Makes you feel like they donβt make them like they used to!" - Magnus H βοΈβοΈβοΈβοΈβ

THE TUESDAY TAKEAWAY π‘
As much as we love to hate bad advertising, we love to shine a light on good advertising.
At 42ourses, we also love to ask some experts in the field about the ads they think are great, so we asked Dave Dye about his top ten ads of all time.
As both an art director and creative director, Dave Dye has won more awards than is fair. He also makes a living by sharing his opinion on advertising, so he's definitely the right person to ask.
Check out his selection here, and please enjoy his short and witty captions.

You could see it as a negative thing that the letters in KFC's brand name could easily be misread as a rather nasty word.
You could also see it as a negative thing when a fried chicken company runs out of chicken.
But the advertising agency, Mother, didn't get to where they are by having such a pessimistic attitude.
In 2018, when KFC faced some serious supplier problems and their brand took a hit, Mother released this apology, and won a Gold Lion at Cannes for it.
It's funny, honest, and brilliant in the way it turned a bad situation into a good one.
If you love good ads like we do, find out how to make them in our Advertising Essentials course.
